Amazon’s newest Ember 65-inch Mini-LED series Fire TV is currently at its best price of the month, coming in at $919.99 with a solid 16% discount. Granted, it hit its lowest price ever at $879.99 around about the same period as the Prime Day sales, but the good news is that’s not a huge price gap, relatively speaking. I’d say this deal is still well worth jumping on if you’re in the market for a good-quality mini-LED TV, especially if you’re looking to keep costs well under $1,000.

Here’s the quick version of what you’re getting, without over-complicating anything. As mentioned, this is a mini-LED TV, which basically means it’s a higher-end LED TV with more and smaller LEDs. In short, it’s more precise when it comes to picture quality, and oftentimes these TVs are brighter, too. More precise means more lifelike, nuanced visuals, which is great for pretty much everything you’re using it for. This TV is also a level-up from your more entry-level LEDs, as it has wider HDR support. For instance, it supports HDR 10+ adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ. That means it’s better at showcasing films and other HDR content as they’re intended to be seen.

Now its gaming features are noteworthy as well, and it shares a lot in common with a high-end 4K gaming monitor. You’ve got a 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Translation: you can game at upto 144fps, and it should be tear-free, stutter-free, and ultra-smooth, even at very high framerates. Pair this TV with a powerful gaming PC or console, like a PS5 Pro, and you shouldn’t be disappointed.

Finally, since it’s a Fire TV, it’s super user-friendly and easy to find and discover content, and it works seamlessly with Alexa and various smart home devices. There’s also WIFI 6E connectivity, which is notably faster than, say, WIFI 5 or 6, which are quite commonly found in entry-level models. This allows to stream, game, download, and more at high speeds.

With higher-end models from the likes of Sony, Samsung, and LG, you’re likely going to be getting powerhouse processors designed for top-tier upscaling, motion handling, and basically making lower-quality content look more polished. However, these tend to be a fair bit pricier. I’d say it’s a great option to go for at under $1,000 that brings a lot more to the table than you’d think, and is well worth considering if you want something larger that ticks all the most important boxes well.

What we like about Amazon’s Ember 65-inch Mini-LED series Fire TV

Impressive mini-LED display for the price

You’ve got 512 dimming zones and up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness, and comprehensive HDR coverage, which adds up to excellent overall picture quality.

Strong gaming features for PC and console

144Hz and FreeSync Premium Pro are game-changers when it comes to playing at high frame rates, and it’s especially good for fast-paced competitive titles, like first-person shooters or racing games, for instance.

Omnisense technology adds another premium touch

This TV can use built-in sensors to detect when you’re in the room and switch on, meaning you can watch anything in a flash or view your favorite artwork without needing to do anything.
