You could say AMD is ruling the midrange graphics card market, and recent deal pricing has really helped split the somewhat confusing RX 9070 variants. The latest to benefit? The Asus Prime Radeon RX 9070 GRE EVO OC, which has fallen below the 9070 GRE MSRP of $550 to $530 at Amazon. The lowest price in 30 days, this deal gets you a solid 1440p graphics card with 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM priced impressively, right around where the $800 RTX 5070…well, should be.

Why we’d pick the Asus Prime RX 9070 GRE EVO OC

Compelling price versus other RX 9070 variants

The RX 9070 GRE is a graphics card for smooth 1440p gaming and fast Full HD. It’s also the least powerful of AMD’s RX 9070 variants. That’s no problem at this $530 deal price, though. The RX 9070 offers around 25% less performance than the RX 9070 XT, and this deal price is more than 25% cheaper than Asus’ own Prime RX 9070 XT. This deal is also $100 less expensive than the current Asus Prime RX 9070 (non-XT), which is $630 at the time of writing.

Competitive against Nvidia’s midrange

The RX 9070 GRE sits between the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and the more powerful RTX 5070 in its overall gaming performance. However, with Nvidia GPUs being the most inflated on the market, the GRE is around $200-300 less than each of those (at the time of writing, there is little price difference between the Nvidia cards!). That makes it an easy option if you’re open to buying Nvidia or AMD based purely on performance per dollar.

Decent 12GB of VRAM and FSR 4

The RX 9070 GRE is a good 1440p card for the current generation and has a pretty decent 12GB VRAM, which may be enough for modern titles at 1440p for years to come. Backed by AMD’s improved FSR 4, AI-enabled upscaling, frame generation, and ray tracing can help to push it even further.

What to consider before you buy

While the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 (to a lesser extent) can deliver 4K performance, that is not to be expected of the Asus Prime RX 9070 GRE EVO OC, or any other 9070 GRE. This is a graphics card for fast Full HD or smooth 1440p gaming, and the deal price perfectly sets that up given the leaps in cost to its more powerful siblings. The RX 9070 GRE, then, is a cost-conscious pick in a market of inflated prices. And if you’re a gamer without the need for Nvidia’s content creation nous, this model is an easy pick.
