What stands out about this monitor?
First off ASUS TUF is one of the best places to start your search if you’re sticking to a budget. The whole range is geared towards performance, but without the extra bells and whistles than can drive up the price. I’m talking RGB, high-end speakers, the latest USB-C ports than can also charge devices and so on. But the good news is that the quality is still very much there where it matters.
In this case, this monitor is aimed squarely at those who value high fps gaming, and play more competitively. It features a rapid 180h refresh rate, with 1ms response time and AMD FreeSync. This combined is everything you need to ensure smooth on-screen movement, minimal screen tearing, and reduced ghosting. If you’re playing first-person shooters, this is ideal.
In terms of picture quality, thanks to its smaller screen, it should still appear crisp and detailed despite being 1080p. That’s due to pixel density, in short, but I think this size really makes the most out of the resolution. It also adds a competitive advantage too.

In terms of HDR, color gamut, and overall picture quality, you’re getting something decent and in-line with price-point. This has a 90% DCI-P3 color coverage, which is not bad. It means that it can reproduce a fairly wide range of colors, which can help to make images look more life-like. That being said, if you’re playing competitively, that won’t be your top priority.
What’s more relevant are its extra features, such as Shadow Boost. As the name suggests, this boosts the brightness of dark areas without over-exposing the whites. That means that you can spot enemies lurking in the shadows, without any distracting side-effects.
Coming in at just over $100, this monitor is ideal for those who may have a lower-tier PC build. By that, I simply mean that you’ll have something that performs great at 1080p and higher fps. I wouldn’t say it would be my top pick for a mid to higher-end build, as you’ll generally be gaming in 1440p or 4K at that point.
Overall, it’s a cracking deal from a company that delivers the goods and then some.
