One of LG’s premium gaming monitors has dropped to a new record-low price on Amazon. It’s now 25% off its list price, coming in at $899.99, which is actually very good considering what this monitor brings to the table. Essentially, what you’ve got here is a very high-end gaming and creative monitor, which boasts 5K resolution, outstanding HDR capabilities, and extensive 99% DCI-P3 and 10-bit color. On top of that, it features mini-LED with massive 2,304 dimming zones, DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and extreme 1,250-nit peak brightness.

In terms of gaming performance, the interesting thing here is that it’s dual-mode, which allows you to switch between 5K at 165Hz and 1440p at 330Hz. That’s great if you want to showcase more demanding games at their best and also want to play competitive titles at higher frame rates, and don’t mind sacrificing some resolution (which, mind you, would still look crisp and clear on a 27-inch display).

LG 27GM950B-B 27-inch Ultragear evo 5K (5120 x 2880) IPS Mini-LED Gaming Monitor

165Hz, 1ms, NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium, DisplayHDR1000, HDMI, DP, USB-C, Tilt/Height/Swivel/Pivot Stand

This monitor’s AI capabilities are actually surprisingly useful, too. It features AI upscaling, which is similar to that of most smart TVs. In short, it can take lower-resolution content and make it appear closer to 5K. It also features AI Scene Optimization, where this monitor can adjust image settings based on the type of content. That could be anything from movies to working in Excel, in this case.

There are a few more standout features worth knowing about, which I’ll go into shortly, but I’d say that if you’re looking for something that can do it all, works exceptionally well in daylight conditions, and is an excellent option for gaming, creativity, and general usage, then this would be a great monitor to consider at its current price. I’d pair this display with RTX 5080 PCs or above, personally, so you can make the most out of it.

USB-C with 90W PD

This is great if you’ve got a laptop and gaming PC setups, as it allows to connect the former via a single cable for charging and display.

NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible & AMD FreeSync Premium Pro

These adaptive sync technologies are going to ensure that stutter and screen tearing are reduced, so you can enjoy games at their smoothest. With FreeSync Premium Pro, it’s actually designed with HDR gaming in mind, helping to further reduce lag.

Anti-glare coating

Not only is this monitor bright enough to smash through daylight conditions, but it also packs a coating that’ll reduce distracting glare and reflections, too.

Is this monitor right for you?

As mentioned, I’d only really go for this if you’ve got a very powerful PC setup, and for me, I think it would be best suited to something like an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 PC, which packs a high-core-count CPU, like an Intel Core Ultra 9-285K, and a tonne of RAM. In other words, something that’s designed for top-tier gaming performance and to handle very demanding creative workflows.

For the price, it’s excellent, though, but check out some 4K dual-mode monitors if you’re shortlisting, as you can usually grab something similar, but QD-OLED for around the same price. Take a look at our top gaming monitor deals below to see what’s out there.
