What we like about this Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 AI gaming laptop
Excellent CPU for gaming performance and productivity
You’ve got an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H here, which packs 16 cores, 16 threads, a 24MB L3 cache, and a 5.1GHz boost clock speed. That’s a balanced offering that’s going to pair well with the RTX 5060 mobile’s capabilities and offer decent multitasking capabilities, too, thanks to its relatively high core count. For creatives, it also has H.264, HEVC, and AV1 encoding and decoding, plus Intel Quick Sync, all of which are going to be very useful for video editing.

Entry-level graphics card that can punch above its weight class
The RTX 5060 mobile has 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and this model has up to 115W TGP, which is on the higher end and a welcome surprise for a laptop this small, where I’d expect lower. This card is designed for 1080p/ 1600p gaming, primarily, and also boasts modern Blackwell features, like DLSS and MFG, for even better performance. For creatives, you’ve got 5th-gen tensor cores that can be used for AI-accelerated tasks, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and NVENC/NVDEC for much faster encoding and decoding, and less strain on the CPU in general.
Small, but impressive display
This smaller screen is IPS and 165Hz, offering wide viewing angles and giving you everything you need for high-refresh-rate gaming. In terms of brightness, it’s 400 nits, which is good for the price and more than enough to be easily visible in bright conditions. On top of that, it features 100% sRGB color, which is decent for gaming, as it’ll make everything look more vibrant, but for creative work it’s largely useful for web design, rather than video editing.
Decent RAM, storage, cooling, and battery life
16GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB storage is more than enough for most people, especially if the main usage is gaming in FHD/ 1600p, and you’re playing a few titles on rotation. Its cooling is also quite robust and adequate for this type of build, featuring a 5th-gen AeroBlade 3D metal fan, liquid-metal thermal interface, and various heat pipes. Battery life is also a winner, coming in at 76Wh, which Acer claims can last up to 13 hours.
Is this laptop right for you?
I’d go for this laptop if you want something that offers genuinely punchy gaming performance with a high TGP RTX 5060 graphics card, but in a much more compact, portable form factor. For creatives, it’s a decent choice for, I’d say, more basic video editing, as you’ll benefit from dedicated hardware for speeding up encoding and decoding, alongside a GPU that can be used to accelerate various workflows, too.
