The GoPro LIT HERO succeeds in making action photography more approachable without sacrificing the rugged durability that defines the GoPro brand. Rather than overwhelming users with numerous shooting modes and advanced settings, the camera provides a simplified interface that allows users to begin recording almost immediately. It still comes with great features though: its combination of 4K60 recording, HyperSmooth stabilisation, integrated LED lighting, waterproof construction, and lightweight design creates an excellent entry-level action camera for travel and outdoor adventures. While enthusiasts may still prefer GoPro’s flagship models, the LIT HERO offers an appealing balance of simplicity, portability, and performance for first-time users. Grab it now for 30% off while this limited time offer is still live!
Video recording tops out at 4K resolution at up to 60 frames per second. This provides a substantial increase in image detail compared with Full HD while also allowing smoother motion capture during fast-moving activities such as cycling, skiing, running, kayaking, or action sports. Recording at 60fps also enables 2× slow-motion playback when exporting footage at standard frame rates. This is particularly useful for highlighting fast-moving subjects or adding cinematic emphasis to sporting moments without requiring specialised editing techniques. The camera records using the widely supported MP4 video format and JPEG still images, making captured content easy to edit using virtually any modern editing software or mobile application.
Image stabilisation is provided through GoPro’s HyperSmooth technology. Rather than relying on mechanical stabilisation, HyperSmooth uses sophisticated electronic processing to minimise camera shake and vibration, producing considerably smoother footage during handheld recording or fast-moving activities.

Still photography is handled by a 12-megapixel CMOS sensor. While the resolution is lower than some premium action cameras, it remains more than sufficient for social media, travel photography, online sharing, and general everyday use. The accompanying GoPro Quik app also allows users to extract approximately 11MP still images directly from recorded videos. This can be useful when capturing unpredictable action, allowing users to choose the best individual frame after recording rather than attempting to capture the perfect moment with traditional photo mode. The camera features a fixed ultra-wide lens with an equivalent focal length of approximately 15mm. This wide field of view captures expansive landscapes, immersive first-person perspectives, and action scenes while reducing the need for extremely precise framing during fast-paced activities.

What we like about this GoPro LIT HERO Action Camera
Rugged waterproof construction
The camera maintains GoPro’s reputation for durability, offering waterproof protection down to 5 metres (16 feet) without requiring an external housing. Combined with its shock-resistant construction, it is built to withstand outdoor adventures, travel, and sporting activities. Waterproofing to 5 metres without an external housing makes the LIT HERO suitable for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, beach holidays, rainy conditions, and general outdoor adventures. Users intending to dive deeper than 5 metres will still require a dedicated waterproof housing.
Compact and lightweight
Weighing only 93 grams, the LIT HERO is one of the lightest cameras in GoPro’s lineup. Its compact size makes it comfortable to mount on helmets, bikes, chest harnesses, or handheld grips while reducing fatigue during extended recording sessions.
Built-in LED light
One of the LIT HERO’s defining features is its integrated LED light. Unlike most action cameras that require an external accessory for additional illumination, the built-in light provides three selectable brightness levels that can improve image quality in dimly lit environments. The light is particularly useful when recording indoors, exploring at night, filming in shaded woodland, camping, or capturing close-up subjects where additional illumination makes a noticeable difference. It can even function independently of the camera, allowing it to be used as a compact flashlight when required.
Beginner-friendly design
The GoPro LIT HERO simplifies the action camera experience without sacrificing the ruggedness that made the brand famous. Its streamlined interface makes switching between video, photo, and slow-motion modes quick and intuitive, making it an excellent option for first-time GoPro users.
Who should buy this GoPro camera deal?
The GoPro LIT HERO is designed for newcomers to action cameras, travellers, families, cyclists, hikers, vloggers, and casual content creators who want an easy-to-use camera capable of capturing high-quality footage in a wide variety of environments. It prioritises simplicity and portability over the extensive manual controls offered by higher-end GoPro models.
