LG 65-Inch Class evo C4 Series OLED 4K TV
The C4 is LG’s latest iteration of the ‘C Series’ which has produced some of the best OLED TVs out there. Basically it’s a new and improved C3 which we voted The Best OLED TV at the beginning of this year. The C4 offers their latest Web OS 24 operating system, plus an upgraded Alpha a9 AI processor to keep whatever you are watching looking fantastic. It also comes with gaming-focused improvements like a 144Hz max refresh rate (compared to the 120Hz of previous-gen models) and full Nvidia G-Sync certification. LG has been king of OLED screens for a long time and this new model is sure to be a hit. Being new to the market you’ll pay a premium, but it is down to you to decide if you think the changes to the C4 make it worth stumping up that extra cash compared to the previous generation C3.
LG C3 Series 65-Inch Class OLED evo 4K TV
When looking at the best OLED TVs, the LG C3 has consistently been ranked right at the top – it might not be the most advanced in LG’s range,( the G Series has a more powerful processor for example), but it is priced keenly, is well designed, and has received almost universally positive reviews. Like the other TVs in this list, you get all the perks of a premium OLED display, with vivid colors and top resolution for a stunning picture, as well as enough gaming features like 120hz refresh rate, VRR, ALLM, and HDMI 2.1 compatibility for 4K gaming, to make it rival bespoke gaming monitors. SAMSUNG 77-Inch Class OLED 4K S90C Series
The Samsung S90C is both the biggest and the most expensive TV on our list by quite some margin, but the 33% saving on offer knocks nearly $1,200 off the cost of this premium TV, allowing you to pick up a huge home theatre-style OLED TV at a massive discount. We like the S90C so much that we voted it the best Samsung OLED back in April. The large screen boasts 4K resolution, with 4K AI-upscaling technology that boosts the quality of older, lower-resolution content so that no matter what you watch, it will look stunning. The cinema-like quality of the screen is also echoed in the enhanced audio you get with the S90C with the TV featuring several bespoke audio technologies including Dolby Atmos and Object Tracking Sound Lite, which create 3D sound that moves with the action on screen for an immersive experience. For those with a higher budget, this is a great chance to land a top OLED TV at a bargain price.
Is OLED the best choice over the alternatives?
As we mentioned at the top of this article, OLED screens are becoming increasingly popular with huge growth in their share of the market, and almost every brand jumping onto the OLED bandwagon. They tend to be more expensive than alternatives like QLED technology, but they can offer better color accuracy, and their self-illuminating pixels offer deeper blacks and realistic shadows for stunning picture quality.
One area where OLEDs have not excelled in the past is when it comes to brightness, so for especially bright rooms, older models may struggle to compete with other technology like Mini-LEDs that are backlit. However, OLEDs are evolving with newer models offering competitive brightness levels. With more OLED TVs than ever before coming to market, it also means that older models are benefitting from serious reductions, and even brand-new products are often offered at a discount to attract customers in a more congested market.
OLED TVs are generally fantastic for gamers, with almost instantaneous response times helping to eliminate ghosting, alongside excellent contrast and color accuracy. Many of these TVs come with bespoke gaming features, making them very attractive to next-gen console users.
