One of the established hurdles to upgrading to WiFi 7 is cost. At least that’s what I thought, until I stumbled across the TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band WiFi 7 Router. It’s not inexpensive at its list price of $180, but a new deal has flattened the cost to $115. That’s a $65 (36%) saving, and if you’re committed to a WiFi 7 wireless network, it’s actually not overly expensive for something with a fairly slow upgrade cycle. And it’s the routers lowest price so far.

Impressive speed/stability

Although this WiFi 7 router lacks the 6GHz band (it’s not tri-band), it can deliver impressive WiFi 7 speeds up to 6.5Gbs (5764 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 688 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band). Users report impressive, high-bandwidth results, capable of 4K and 8K streaming with impressive stability. So if you’re struggling with speed and dropouts, this deal may be for you.

Good range and strength

While not necessarily designed for larger properties, the TP-Link Archer BE6500 should boost performance in apartments and split-level homes (up to 2,400 sqft). Thanks to its Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS), it can also help to strengthen connections if your network is in an area with potential interference. Plus, you can expand your network, as the router supports the EasyMesh standard.

Easy setup

Tp_Link routers are known for their easy setup, and that proves to be the case, according to user reviews. The TP-Link Tether smartphone app should help you be set up in minutes, and you can use the app ongoing to help you maintain and configure your network.

What to consider before you buy

This is a really strong deal for a WiFi 7 router, pushing the TP-Link Archer BE6500 to its lowest price to date. And if you have an apartment or split-level home that isn’t large, this could be the critical piece to your future WiFi 7 network. It has a good mix of features and wired connections too (1x 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, 1x 2.5 Gbps LAN port, and 3x 1 Gbps LAN ports). However, if you’re keen to use the 6GHz band, then you’ll need to look elsewhere. This WiFi 7 router is dual, not tri-band, and that will keep the cost lower, too. Need more options?
