Table of Contents
This MSI Aegis R2 PC is well worth checking out now that it has a hefty $350 discount at Newegg. It’s down to $1,749.00, which is its lowest price in 30 days, and it brings a lot to the table both in terms of gaming performance and workstation capabilities.
This build features an RTX 5070 graphics card, which offers excellent QHD performance, 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and modern Blackwell features, like improved ray tracing, AI capabilities, and MFG upscaling. Paired with this, instead of your typical i7-14700F processor usually found in RTX 5070 builds around this price, you’ve got a beastly i9-14900F. This CPU is a powerhouse for gaming and also packs a very high core count that makes it a brilliant choice for demanding creative workflows and multitasking, especially when supported with this build’s hefty 32GB of DDR5 RAM.
It’s a stylish build, with excellent MSI-standard build quality, a robust air cooling solution, a punchy 750W PSU, and decent 1TB of storage, and well worth considering while it’s reduced down to a very competitive price point.

What we like about this MSI Aegis R2 gaming PC
An excellent GPU for QHD gaming, and more
The RTX 5070 is one of the best graphics cards you can get if you’re looking for outstanding QHD performance, but it’s also a powerful pick for the price, for creative tasks like video editing and working in 3D.
It packs a very powerful, all-rounder CPU
Its i9-14900F has 24 cores, 32 threads, a boost clock speed of 5.8Ghz, and a large 36MB L3 cache. This makes it very well suited to multitasking and work in apps like Blender and Premiere Pro, in addition to being great for high fps gaming at FHD and QHD with low frame latency, too.
Loads of DDR5 for cracking gaming and workstation performance
With 32GB of DDR5, this PC is primed to handle demanding, asset-heavy AAA games with ease, with reduced micro-stuttering in addition to complex, large creative projects.
Things to consider before buying
As you’re no doubt aware, this CPU is an older LGA 1700 socket processor, so you’re slightly limited when it comes to upgrades, compared to the LGA 1851 processors or even AM5 CPUs. For the price, it’s hard to beat, though, so if you plan on sticking with the PC as-is for a while, you should really feel like you’re missing out there.
