The 9800X3D has a list price of $479, with a lowest-ever price of $410 (spotted in April this year). Generational uplift
The 9800X3D isn’t the best-balanced processor for all-round productivity and gaming. However, it has certainly improved upon the 7800X3D’s performance across the former, and with 8 cores and 16 threads, it can easily be used for daily tasks as needed. AMD reports a +~16% IPC (instructions per clock) uplift, which isn’t insignificant.

That does mean that if you’re keen on content creation or, say, streaming, the Ryzen 7 9700X or Ryzen 9 9900X could suit you better, depending on your budget. Second, this deal has the 9800X3D just $5 above its lowest-ever at Amazon. It may be worth waiting for the price to drop further or to buy now, but that’s a decision only you can make.
