Outstanding all-rounder iBuyPower RTX 5080, Core Ultra 9 285 PC sees hefty price cut at Newegg
Table of Contents
This iBuyPower Y40 Pro gaming PC currently has a beefy $400 discount at Newegg, and it’s a quality pick that ticks practically every box you could think of when it comes to performance and future-proofing, all in a package that’s more well-rounded than your typical gaming build.
What you’ve got here is an RTX 5080 graphics card, which, as you no doubt know, is a powerhouse for both 4K gaming and demanding creative workloads. You’ve got Blackwell features like MFG, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, 5th-gen tensor cores, and 16GB of improved GDDR7 VRAM with this GPU, to name a few. Paired with this is one of the top Intel Core Ultra processors on the market, the 9 285. This CPU has a huge 24-core count, a large 36MB L3 cache, and a 5.6 GHz boost clock speed. This makes it a very good alternative to a lower core-count Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is often found in RTX 5080 prebuilds, allowing it to deliver strong gaming performance, with exceptional multitasking and workstation capabilities. With this PC’s 32GB of DDR5, you’ve got something that’s primed for more than just gaming, making it ideal for streaming, creative professionals, and more.
It also doesn’t skimp on storage, opting for a 2TB SSD. That’s ideal for large game collections and storing dense files accumulated through tasks like video editing, for example. The whole build is a level-up from, albeit more affordable, Intel 14th-gen RTX 5080 options, as the 9 285 is a newer LGA 1851 socket. This gives you a clearer runway for upgrades, giving this PC some legs for a good few years to come. Overall, while it is expensive, this is the type of PC that really doesn’t hold back when it comes to its gaming and workstation capabilities. At $3,099.99, it makes for a quality pick for gamers, streamers, video editors, and those working heavily in 3D, and it looks great, too!

What we like about this iBuyPower Y40 Pro gaming PC
Powerful, well-rounded CPU
This CPU may not have the enormous 96MB L3 cache of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but its core count and high boost clock speed make it one of the best picks for hybrid usage. And if you’re gaming at higher resolutions, a CPU like this is more than enough for ultra-smooth, low-latency gameplay, too.
A brilliant GPU for 4K gaming, and outstanding for creative professionals
The RTX 5080’s 16GB of VRAM and advanced AI capabilities make it a gaming and creative powerhouse, allowing you to play AAA titles at ultra settings and handle the most demanding 3D rendering tasks with ease.
Future-facing foundation and slightly more cost-effective than high core count AM5 alternatives
With a 14th-gen Intel build, you’d eventually have to swap out your motherboard to upgrade, but this PC should be good to house future Intel LGA 1851 socket processors for some time to come. It’s also worth noting that some of the high core count Ryzen X3D RTX 5080 builds can be unbelievably expensive. RTX 5080 builds with a Ryzen 9 9900X3D, for example, can easily come in at over $3500 from my experience.
