Popular 4TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD falls further in price, rolling back the months

We don’t know when SSD prices will return to ‘normal’, but we’re keen to point out when individual drives are cheaper than they have been. Samsung’s popular 990 EVO Plus 4TB is the latest, and while it’s not a full reset, the SSD is at its best price since February. A new Amazon deal has slightly dropped the cost, making it available for $567. Again, this isn’t anywhere near its best-ever, but in the current market that’s to be expected. Still, if you need a 4TB NVMe drive, it’s an improvement. And here’s why we like it.

Power-efficient
The 990 Evo Plus range exists as a refresh of the original 990 Evo. The main benefit of the Plus is power efficiency, which is good if that’s something you want for your desktop PC. Naturally, it makes it a better fit for laptop upgrades, too. And that makes a lot of sense given the capacious 4TB on offer.
Ample storage
As a 4TB NVME drive, this EVO Plus SSD will be a fine upgrade, especially for laptops, which usually ship with a much smaller capacity. In terms of gaming, 4TB would store the equivalent of (approximately) 20 copies of Black Ops 7. So, if you’re eyeing the drive to expand a games library, it’s a good size to go for.

The Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD 4TB may not rate among the best NVMe SSDs, but it’s a well-rounded option that will suit power-friendly desktops and laptops, too. The main thing to consider, as with any SSD purchase right now, is cost. It’s not clear whether this price will go any lower, but it is clear that this deal offers a level not seen in almost five months.
