The Amazon Big Spring Sales are in full swing, and it looks like it’s a great time to grab a Ryzen processor for less. This Ryzen 9 7900X is currently 15% off, and has been reduced from $316.00 to $267.99. It’s also its lowest price ever on Amazon, making it a seriously good value for money, considering what it brings to the table. This AM5 CPU is basically designed for those who want a more balanced offering that delivers high, stable fps when gaming, but is also well-positioned for demanding multitasking, and multi-core and multi-threaded workloads. This makes it especially good if you’re splitting your time between gaming and streaming, but also if you’re a content creator or professional creative and need something to blast through heavy edits, rendering, and more. For the price, we think it’s a great deal well worth considering.

AMD Ryzenâ„¢ 9 7900X CPU

12-Core, 24-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor

Key features of this Ryzen 9 7900X processor

The Ryzen 9 7900X is a Zen 4, AM5 processor that delivers across the board when it comes to gaming, multi-core performance, future-proofing, and value for money, especially now that it’s back at its lowest price ever on Amazon. For gaming, it boasts an impressive 5.6GHz boost clock speed, which, when paired with its large 64MB L3 cache, makes it an excellent choice for those looking for high framerates and low frame latency when gaming, and a quality pick for even some of the very best graphics cards on the market, too. It has a high 170W TDP, so it’s worth making sure you’ve got a robust cooling solution in your build, but what’s great is that there’s also an eco mode, which drops this to 65W, to keep both thermals and running costs down.

For multitasking, this CPU is a very strong choice, as it boasts 12 cores and 24 threads. This makes it very adept at handling anything from streaming to running background applications like Discord while gaming, without hindering in-game performance. It also makes it a very good choice for applications like Blender and Adobe Premiere Pro, which work best by utilizing a CPU’s multiple cores and threads, in turn making tasks like editing, rendering, and exporting much faster and more efficient. Things to consider

At its current price, this CPU is a real-winner, especially as when it was released back in 2022, it was significantly more. There are a few alternatives that may be worth considering, though. The obvious choice, with fewer cores but better gaming performance, would be Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This has a huge 96MB L3 cache, and is designed specifically for high fps, low frame latency gaming, and is widely seen as one of the very best gaming CPUs on the market. If money is no object, then you could splurge on the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which has 16 cores and 32 threads, but is over $600 in most cases. And there’s also the non-X Ryzen 9 7900, which is much easier to cool at 90W TDP, with only a small sacrifice from a performance perspective.
