Samsung Odyssey gaming monitors are some of the best you can get if you’re after S-tier performance, with super high-end build quality and stunning design. If you’re looking for a premium gaming monitor, Samsung is a great place to start your search, and from my experience, they tend to get some hefty discounts, too. Case in point, I came across one of their top 360Hz QD-OLED gaming monitors on sale at Newegg with a stonking $200 off. It’s now reduced from $899.99 to $699.99, which is pricey, yes, but it’s worth it if you’re after exceptional picture quality and gaming performance.
Samsung 27 inch Odyssey G6 Gaming Computer Monitor
So who’s this for? Well, if you’ve got a very high-end gaming PC build, like something with an RTX 5070 Ti for instance, which is capable of gaming at ultra settings, ray tracing, and at very high framerates, then this would be a good monitor to make the most out of your PC’s performance. If you’re a content creator, specifically a video editor, this monitor’s color coverage (99% DCI-P3) make sit a good choice, too.
What we like about this Samsung 27-inch Odyssey G6 gaming monitor
Super sleek, premium design
Samsung monitors are pretty much in a league of their own when it comes to design, as they boast excellent build quality and premium finishing that make them a much sleeker option to go for than your typical gaming monitor. This monitor features a metal design, which is unique for a gaming monitor, and also has Samsung’s CoreLighting system on the back, which can be customized and synced.

QD-OLED display for lifelike picture quality
One of the big features here is this monitor’s stunning QD-OLED display, which is designed to showcase games at their very best. This particular display features a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, which means that you’re getting very deep, inky blacks and bright highlights, which makes everything look far more realistic on screen. In terms of color, it has 99% DCI-P3 color, which means that this monitor is able to reproduce a very wide color range, very accurately. This is great for gaming, and it’s also excellent for video editors.
360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time for fast-paced, super smooth gaming
This monitor features a very high refresh rate of 360Hz, which allows for up to 360fps at QHD. This is more than enough for competitive gaming, and with its low 0.03ms response time, motion blur and ghosting will be kept to a minimum, too.
FreeSync Premium Pro for outstanding HDR gaming performance
You’ve got the top-tier of FreeSync here, which has all the anti-screen-tearing capabilities of the base level, plus a few added extras designed to further improve gaming performance. At this level, you’re getting technology that reduces lag when using HDR, which is very important with OLED gaming monitors, as these are obviously designed with HDR in mind. On top of that, it also features FreeSync Premium’s low-framerate compensation, which keeps everything running smoothly when framerates dip below the monitor’s bottom refresh rate.
Sweet spot resolution to size ratio
This monitor comes in a 27-inch model and is QHD resolution. This is basically the sweet spot when it come sto resolutoin and size, as at 27 inches, 1440p resolution looks super crisp and clear, and saves you a load of cash as you don’t need to buy a 4K monitor or invest in a 4K-ready gaming PC. It’s also the ideal size for most types of games; not too big for competitive shooters, and ot too small to lack immersion.
Things to consider
So when it comes to brightness, QD-OLED monitors can be a little on the dim side. While they can produce very high peak brightness, it is usually only in a smaller area, which is easy to get mixed up about when shortlisting. This monitor comes in at 250 nits typical, which is decent, but by no means super bright. The best way to use this monitor is in lower light environments, where it will be absolutely incredible. If you want to stick with OLED but want something brighter, look for a display with VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification instead, as these tend to be brighter. The same goes for WOLED monitors, which are a touch brighter than your typical models. My personal pick would be something like this LG UltraGear monitor for a very strong alternative.
