This Thunderobot Storm 17.3-inch gaming laptop has a pretty hefty 30% discount on Amazon, through PCOnline US, and is now going for $1,749.00. For the price, I’d say it’s quite compelling given what it brings to the table, especially for those looking to stay well below $2,000 with their laptop budgets.
Thunderobot Storm 17.3″ RTX 5070 Ryzen 7-255 Gaming Laptop, 32GB DDR5 1TB
What you’ve got here is a gaming a very well-balanced RTX 5070 gaming laptop at price point that makes a lot of sense. The GPU itself is going to be great for FHD/QHD gaming on the go and features 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM, improved ray tracing and tensor cores, and exclusive Blackwell features. The CPU paired with it isn’t an absolute powerhouse that would drive the overall price sky-high, but something that’s in line with the RTX 5070’s capabilities, without being overkill. The Ryzen 7 255 has 8 cores, 16 threads, a 16MB L3 cache, and a 4.9GHz boost clock speed. It’s a solid, more cost-effective choice that’s still going to tick all the right boxes for gaming, productivity, and multitasking.
The screen is very much in line with this build. It’s QHD, IPS, and 165Hz, which is a decent combination for gaming that still offers enough headroom for competitive frame rates on the move. It’s 100% sRGB, which is fine if you’re working on creative projects mostly online. And its expansive 17.3-inch sizing is certainly a bonus if you have multiple windows open or need space for creative applications’ extensive UI and tools.

This isn’t the highest-spec RTX 5070 out there, but it is well worth checking out if you want to keep costs below the $2,000 mark. It’s not bad at all for the price, especially if you want a laptop with punchier performance than an RTX 5060 alternative that you’ll be using primarily for gaming and productivity.
