Key features of this MSI Aegis ZS gaming desktop
Ryzen 9 9900X processor
This PC packs a very powerful, but incredibly versatile, processor, in the form of the impressive Ryzen 9 9900X. This AM5 CPU has a boost clock speed of 5.6GHz and a very large 64MB L3 cache, making it a very strong choice for the RTX 5080, and a very strong option for extremely high refresh rate, esports, and competitive gaming, too. It has 12 cores and 24 threads, which makes it exceptional when it comes to multitasking and handling demanding creative workflows. For example, this CPU would be excellent for streaming high-resolution gameplay without significant performance drops. In terms of its workstation capabilities, it’s a powerhouse for video editing and working in 3D, and a great option for those who work in applications like Blender, which work best with a CPU with higher core and thread counts. RTX 5080 graphics card
The RTX 5080 is one of the best graphics cards for 4K and ray tracing, and an excellent option if you’re looking for something for professional-level content creation and handling demanding workloads. It features 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, with 30Gbps speeds, which allow for 960 GB/s bandwidth, which makes it over 30% faster when it comes to data travel to the RTX 4080. It’s built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell architectures, which are essentially optimized for AI and faster ray tracing, and include powerful 4th-gen RT cores and 5th-gen tensor cores, the latter of which powers Nvidia’s exclusive MFG upscaling. With its hefty CUDA core count of 10,752 and high boost clock speed, it boasts impressive raw performance, which not only allows it to handle demanding games at max settings in 4K, but also makes it very capable when working with applications like Adobe Premiere Pro and Blender, especially when combined with the higher core and thread count Ryzen 9 9900X processor. Storage and RAM
Pretty standard procedure here, as, like most RTX 5080 prebuilds, this one features 32GB of DDR5 and a 2TB SSD. That’s more than enough storage for most, even if you’re storing hours of 4K footage alongside your gaming connection. 32GB is ideal for the RTX 5080, too, as it’s going to make open-world games feel smoother, assist when editing large, complex files, and improve your overall computing experience when running multiple heavy applications at the same time.
Things to consider
For around this price, which is the lower-end when it comes to RTX 5080 builds, the alternative would be opting for an RTX 5080, Intel Core Ultra 7-265K build. Now, this would be arguably a better option if you wanted excellent video editing, multi-tasking, and productivity performance, as the CPU has an even higher core and thread count, but where it will fall short is with its gaming performance, as its L3 cache isn’t as large. Both are quality options to consider, and, personally, I’d probably lean more towards the Ryzen 9 9900X, as I think the AM5 platform gives a bit more optionality for upgrades in the future.
