Samsung’s SSD 990 EVO Plus 1TB tumbles to lowest price since April in Amazon deal
Table of Contents
We don’t think SSD prices are dropping anywhere close to previous lows, but we have spotted a slight shift down for a couple of key items. One of those is Samsung’s SSD 990 Evo Plus 1TB, a drive that started this month at an all-time high of $290 on Amazon. That’s not the price now, though, as the NVMe is down to its lowest since April at $237. Being the best time to buy in six months, here’s why we’d pick it.
Why we’d pick the Samsung SSD 990 Evo Plus 1TB
Strong 1TB performance
The 990 EVO Plus 1TB uses Samsung’s V-NAND 3-TLC memory and an in-house controller. The result is that this 1TB SSD can deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,150 MB/s and 6,300 MB/s, respectively, as well as 850K and 1,350K IOPS for random read and write, respectively. It’s good all-around performance for a 1TB drive.
Power efficient
The 990 EVO Plus 1TB stands out in power efficiency. It beats the 990 Pro 1TB and 990 1TB, and that makes it a good pick for users who want tighter reins on power consumption and the (resulting) cooler temperatures that go with it. It also makes this SSD a good pick for laptops and the PlayStation 5 for expansion.

What to consider before you buy
The 990 Evo Plus 1TB is ideal for a boot drive or for cost-limited storage expansion. However, if the deal price of $237 is too high, then you should check out the new Samsung 990 1TB deal we’ve covered. It’s even more affordable, with similar performance, although you do lose the excellent power efficiency of the Evo Plus range. Still, if you’re in the market for the best NVMe SSD for you, value may be vital.
