This impressive TCL 27-inch P3A Series gaming monitor is now down to its best price ever on Amazon, with a deep 32% discount. It’s coming in at $473.77, which is actually a very fair price considering what it brings to the table.

What you’re getting here is a QD-Mini LED monitor with a substantial 1,196 local dimming zones, outstanding HDR1200, and a speedy 260Hz refresh rate. In short, this the type of combination that’s going to give you exceptionally bright picture quality, with incredible color, and strong contrast, alongside performance that makes it suitable for competitive gaming, too. This monitor is an OLED alternative in many senses, especially if you’re looking for something that will be much more clearly visible in well-lit environments. The slight trade-off is that blacks won’t be as perfect as an OLED.

Is it for you? Well, if you’ve got a pretty punchy gaming PC, and want something that’s going to showacase games at their best, and you play competitvely, but don’t need upwards of 360Hz, then this monitor makes a lot of sense for the price. The big thing here is its birght QD-Mini LED display which makes it pretty much ideal for well-lit rooms and daytime usage.

What we like about this TCL 27-inch P3A Series QD-Mini LED monitor

Loads of dimming zones bring it closer to an OLED

The more dimming zones, the more control a moniitor has over its picture quality, so you’re essentially getting sharp, high contrast visuals, with accurate color and bright highlights, but without the expense of an OLED or lower typical brightness.

Refresh rate is ideal for most people, without being overkill

260Hz gives you plenty of headroom for high fps gaming, but doesn’t drive the price too skyhigh, or have you paying for a refresh rate you’d never really use.

FreeSync Premium helps to ensure smoother gaming performance

The premium version here notably includes Low Framerate Compensation, which is great for competitive gaming. It’s not Premium Pro, which is designed for HDR performance, but it’s still great.

HDR1200 is seriously impressive

With this level of HDR performance, you can expect extremely bright highlights and incredible color, for more lifelike and realistic visuals, even in well-lit environments.

Things to consider before buying

Its local dimming zones are great, but it’s not the same level as an OLED which has individually controlled pixels. If you’re gaming in a lower-lighth enviroments, the same amount of cash could potentially grab you a discounted QD-OLED 360Hz model, and you could even score a 280Hz model for a touch less. This TCL monitor is seriously impressive, though, and significantly brighter than your standard OLEDs. It would be my choice if needed something for daytime usage.
