This popular Samsung QHD monitor is now back at its record-low price on Amazon and it’s a real bargain
Table of Contents
This popular Samsung 27-inch gaming monitor has crashed back to its best price ever on Amazon, and is going for just $159.99. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, high-refresh-rate QHD monitor, this is the deal for you.
So this monitor is essentially a more basic QHD display with a 180Hz refresh rate, HDR 10 compatibility, and a visual punch in design, too. At this price range, it’s tailored towards those who have more cost-effective 1440p gaming setups and want something good for gaming, but not overkill for their configurations. In that sense, this monitor ticks the boxes nicely.
At under $160, it’s a great price considering it’s from one of the leaders in the space, and with over 1,000 purchases in the last month alone at Amazon, we’re clearly not the only ones who think this monitor stands out from the crowd.

What we like about this Samsung 27″ Odyssey G5 gaming monitor
Excellent gaming performance for the price
At under $160, you’re getting a 180Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and FreeSync here, which is a solid combination for high fps gaming at QHD that’s going to ensure you can game without screen tearing, stutter, and with minimal motion blur and ghosting.
QHD resolution is a winner at this size for picture quality
At 27 inches, 1440p looks crisp and clear, making for the ultimate hack for those who don’t want to spend on a 4K monitor or 4 K-ready gaming PC. It’s great for gaming and seeing details and textures at higher settings, and it’s also better for reading text, watching content, and design work, too.
HDR 10 compatible is basic, but still decent
This means that this monitor can accept standard HDR data and show games and content with enhanced contrast, brightness, and color. It’s not mind-blowing by any means, but it is good to have if you’re looking for more than just a monitor with a high refresh rate.
Ergonomic stand and eye-catching design
You’ve got tilt, pivot, and height adjustment with this monitor’s stand, which is great if you’re looking to find the most comfortable position, and we’re big fans of this monitor’s darker aesthetic, too.
Who should buy this Samsung 27″ Odyssey G5 gaming monitor?
When it comes to QHD, 27-inch gaming monitors, there are almost too many options to choose from, so in my view, it really comes down to how good its HDR is and overall design. This Samsung monitor gives you everything you need in terms of performance for a great price, has decent HDR, and looks pretty high-end, too. If you’re playing competitive games in QHD primarily and want something that looks great, then this is a good option.
For better HDR, I’d recommend checking out monitors with a DisplayHDR 400 rating, which are also fairly inexpensive, especially if you opt for brands outside of the very top-tier. Think AOC, Innocn, and maybe ASRock, and you’ll uncover some excellent displays from a price-to-performance perspective. Check out our top monitor deals below to see what else is out there.
