Cyber Monday may be over, but some of the deals are still live, and we have spotted a very exciting discount on a 1440p-ready gaming PC that we think offers great value. The MSI Codex Z2 features an RTX 4070 with the Ryzen 7 8700F. We don’t usually find that many prebuilt PCs with a Ryzen 8000 desktop processor, but for what it’s worth, it can hold its ground fairly well in games, especially when paired with the RTX 4070.
I will go over more about the specifications and the kind of performance you should expect from this PC below. So, if you’re interested in this deal, I would recommend scrolling down and going over the key highlights of this prebuilt first. This way, you will have a clear idea of what to expect from this build. In any case, right now, the MSI PC is available on Amazon with a 15% discount, which brings its price down to $1,359 from $1,599, so you save around $240.

Features and highlights of the MSI Codex Z2 gaming desktop
- Graphics card: The prebuilt PC comes with an RTX 4070, a very capable card that can handle 1440p gaming without breaking a sweat. In fact, if you turn on DLSS, you can even expect some solid 4K gameplay out of it. Plus, being an NVIDIA GPU, it also offers excellent ray tracing performance.
- Processor: For the processor, we have a Ryzen 7 8700F. The CPU was released this year, and it has an 8-core, 16-thread configuration with a boost clock speed of 5GHz. It is a good mid-range choice for those who want decent performance in both gaming and CPU-intensive tasks.
- RAM and storage: Since it is an AM5 build, we get 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5600MHz. This is more than enough for pretty much all games, so memory will not be an issue. For storage, there is a 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD as well, so you should be able to install all of your games without running out of storage. The motherboard has 2x M.2 slots and 4x SATA 6G ports, which gives you the option to expand storage in the future as well.
- Cooling: The cooling is adequate. I wouldn’t say it is the best, but it is good enough to prevent any thermal throttling, so unless you plan to go down the overclocking route, it shouldn’t cause any issues. The front panel of the chassis has a perforated grill for airflow, and the CPU is cooled with an air cooler. Since it has a 65W TDP, pairing it with an AIO will be overkill and just drive up the cost, so I would say the configuration is good.
Is the MSI Codex Z2 gaming desktop deal good value?
All things considered, this is a solid prebuilt PC. It's clear it's not designed for overclocking, given the 650W PSU and air cooler, but if you're after a plug-and-play gaming setup, it's a great option. The RTX 4070 is an excellent card for gaming at any resolution. It handles 1080p and 1440p for competitive gaming effortlessly, and as for 4K, sure you will have to turn to DLSS, but it can take a shot at it as well.
With that said, as far as the configuration goes, you’re getting good value for your money, but we can also check the deal’s past pricing to see if it has seen a better discount in the past.
This graph is from Camelcamelcamel, and it clearly shows that the deal is currently at an all-time low. This means that if you’re interested, you should go for it as it is unlikely that you’ll find a better price at the moment.
