8BitDo ‘All-Button’ arcade controllers revealed for PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch for less than $100
After a teaser trailer and a mysterious ‘8BitDo Controller’ appearing on Amazon recently, more details about this device have been unveiled. It’s exactly what many speculated, a leverless arcade controller. 8BitDo will soon launch the new controller in full.
The device is set to be fully revealed at 8 AM PST on May 16th. However, at the time of writing, early screenshots have been leaked online by Wario64 on X, giving us a closer look at two different models. These are as follows:
- 8BitDo All-Button Arcade Controller for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & PC – $99.99
- 8BitDo All-Button Arcade Controller for Switch & Windows – $89.99
8BitDo All-Button Arcade Controller will be officially revealed on May 16th
8BitDo says the new All-Button Arcade Controller is “engineered for precision,” and it looks to be an excellent value pick; not many fightsticks with this level of functionality retail for less than $100. Leverless controllers have seen a massive boost in popularity in the past couple of years or so among the competitive fighting game community. They’re also great for rhythm games if that’s more your thing. We’ve even seen the form factor make its way to gaming handhelds, one notable example being this Legion Go mod.
Aside from the obvious compatibility differences, there is also a visual difference between the two arcade sticks. The Xbox version has RGB lighting, while the Switch version does not; the former is also $10 more expensive. Both models feature wireless and wired connectivity, with Kailh Wizard low-profile mechanical switches, four programmable buttons, and hot-swappable PCBs. Other features include SOCD cleaning and a tournament lock; the Xbox version notes 4ms wired latency.
Whether you’re a fan of leverless or not, this form factor has solidified its place in the arcade stick market. Both variants of the 8BitDo All-Button Arcade Controller are now available to pre-order on Amazon and are set to release on July 15th.
