Now that the long-awaited 9800X3D launch day is here, we’ve seen a ton of benchmarks appearing online. The new best CPU for gaming has been highly impressive; we don’t think anything will beat it in gaming any time soon. Gaming results are the ones to look out for with an X3D chip like this, and since the 9800X3D allows for overclocking (the first X3D to do so), some extreme benchmarks are surfacing online.
While these benchmarks don’t reflect your average gaming setup, especially with liquid nitrogen cooling involved, it’s a neat look at what the 9800X3D is capable of. A new video posted online by Tony Yu of ASUS China shows a handful of gaming tests, including a Valorant showcase with framerates easily breaking 1000 FPS, and spiking over 1500 during gameplay.
Extreme 6.9 GHz overclock for 9800X3D
The video featuring Tony Yu demonstrates that the CPU can run at 6750 MHz in Cinebench R23, while a recording in Valorant shows 6,900 MHz clock speed with the CPU package resting around the 104W mark. For reference, the 9800X3D offers a standard boost clock speed of 5.2 GHz and 120W TDP.

A small show match presented some gameplay in action with these extreme overclocking conditions, with maintained framerates of 800+ and we even spotted it hitting over 2000, though this was while navigating the game’s menus. Further tests in Counter-Strike 2 also revealed it clocked in an average FPS of 1262.9.
There’s no denying that AMD has delivered on its promise to bring the best gaming CPU to the market. 9800X3D reviewers have praised the new processor with excellent performance uplift over previous generations.
