The Acemagic X1, recently unveiled at Computex 2024 as ‘Z1A’, claims the title of the world’s first 360° dual-screen laptop. This innovative design is meant to increase productivity by offering two displays. And now, after giving a glimpse of the laptop during Computex, Acemagic has finally revealed the specs of it. This provides us with a clearer picture of what this laptop will be suitable for.
What the Acemagic X1 features
To begin with, the X1 features two 14.1-inch displays with 1920 x 1200 resolution, positioned side-by-side. This unique layout allows users to work on two separate tasks simultaneously, so you won’t have to worry about switching from one window to another. For instance, you can create a presentation on one screen while keeping the research open on the other. Or, you could edit a picture on the main display and keep a reference image open on the secondary screen. On top of that, unlike some dual-screen laptops that fold vertically, the X1’s secondary screen folds horizontally.
If you’re wondering why the resolution of the displays is a bit low, it’s because the laptop isn’t meant for gaming or heavy content-creation tasks. It is only for general business-related tasks, such as video conferences, creating presentations, or other tasks that don’t require a lot of resources. There aren’t any powerful components in the laptop either, as it comes packed with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB of PCIe 3.0 SSD storage.
Additionally, it has a 15W i7-1255U processor. This is a 10-core CPU and not one of the most powerful ones out there. Previously, Acemagic claimed that the laptop would feature a Core i7-1265U and LPDDR-3200 memory. However, this has now changed according to the latest blog post. We don’t know yet if there are going to be other models with different specs or if we’ll only get the option to choose this one.
A laptop built for the everyday user, it seems
In any case, judging from the specs, the Acemagic X1 is clearly not something meant for resource-hungry tasks. While it may be able to run a few games at the lowest settings, they won’t be playable. On top of that, the laptop might also struggle with content creation tasks such as video editing or animation. But if you’re someone who frequently makes presentations, edits pictures, attends video calls, and engages in other similar business-related tasks, then the secondary screen will undoubtedly boost your productivity.
