Chromebooks are a pretty special type of laptop. They are simple to use and are known for being fast, secure, and easy to carry around, making them perfect for both students and professionals, and are particularly popular among the former. If you were planning to get a new Chromebook but were waiting for a new model to hit the market, then we’ve got some good news for you.

At the IFA 2025 event in Berlin, Acer revealed several new laptops, and one of the most exciting announcements was the new Chromebook Plus Spin 514. It’s an obvious contrast to the new range of Nitro & Predator gaming laptops it also revealed.

What does the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 offer?

For starters, the new Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is the brand’s first to use the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910 processor. This processor has a powerful built-in NPU, which is a component specifically designed to help with AI tasks and workflows.

“We are excited to introduce our first Chromebook with the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, unlocking a new level of AI-powered capabilities that streamline multitasking, content creation, and productivity on an Acer Chromebook,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, Acer Inc. “With its powerful performance, AI tools, and robust and premium build, the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 will empower creators, employees, and teachers to create, work, and be productive from anywhere.”

As far as the screen is concerned, the laptop boasts a 14-inch touchscreen with a sharp resolution of up to 2.8K, which means images and videos should look clear and colorful. You can also use a stylus with the screen for drawing or writing, which is a nice touch for creatives.

What’s interesting is that the Chromebook can be used in four different ways: as a traditional laptop, a tablet, or in display and tent modes. The hinges are also very tough and are made to handle thousands of open and close cycles. This makes it a great choice for people who are always on the go and need a device that won’t break down easily.

The best part about the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is that despite all the features, it’s very light, weighing just 1.36 kg, and thin, at only 15.5 mm thick. This makes it highly portable, as you can carry it around in a backpack without worrying about your shoulders getting hurt due to its weight. Acer also claims that the battery can last up to 17 hours on a single charge, which is great news for those who can not afford to pick up the charger multiple times throughout the day.

For those interested, the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 will be available in North America in October, starting at $699.99, and in the EMEA region at the same time for €699. There will also be a special business version for companies, starting at €879.
