PC gaming fans ask quite a lot of their monitors. The space is not only highly competitive, but also requires displays to provide excellent refresh rates, response times, as well as depth and range of color. According to figures gathered from the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Gaming Tracker, AGON by AOC is maintaining its position as the number one gaming monitor brand ranking.
According to numbers released by AOC, the market for gaming monitors reached 20% of total monitor shipments worldwide. Customers of gaming monitors are becoming more specific in their requirements, such as needing high frequency rates to support faster framerates.
AOC is the #1 gaming brand for the sixth consecutive year
The IDC Worldwide Quarterly Gaming Tracker uses figures based on outgoing stock numbers from Q4 of 2024, which show AOC/AGON-branded gaming monitors have the top brand ranking for monitors of 100 Hz or above. This is the sixth consecutive year that AOC/AGON has maintained this position.
“Being recognised once again at the top reaffirms our commitment to gamers everywhere,” said Kevin Wu, Head of the Monitors Business Unit at AOC. “We will continue to evolve alongside the gaming community, creating hardware and gaming experiences that meet the ambitions of today's most demanding players.”
AOC says it has plans to further advance its display technology by expanding the availability of 240 Hz and above displays across its product lines, further developing OLED display technology, and integrating ‘gaming-inspired' features into professional displays.
Looking ahead, AGON by AOC is set to further advance display technology across all segments. The brand’s 2025 roadmap emphasises:
AOC
- Expanding the accessibility of 240 Hz and above displays across all product tiers
- Further development of OLED technology, building on the success of current QD-OLED models
- Integration of gaming-inspired features into professional displays
- Continued focus on value-oriented high-performance gaming monitors
It was not clear which gaming-inspired features would be coming to other display types, but we expect something akin to adaptive synchronization technology and variable refresh rates. This is likely to comply with the G-Sync and FreeSync technologies produced by Nvidia and AMD, respectively.
AOC says that its AGON sub-brand will: “Continue to push the boundaries of display technology whilst ensuring advanced features remain accessible to all gamers.”
