The much anticipated AMD RX 9070 XT has finally been officially announced along with its non-XT sibling. With the announcement come some official performance figures from AMD about what we can expect from the new graphics card. Though AMD says it is not competing in the high-end PC graphics card market at the moment, the company is still keen to show off how well its new card can perform under challenging workloads compared to its predecessors.

Official AMD figures compared the performance of 30 games on both the RX 9070 XT and the previous generation RX 7900 GRE. Several of these were tested using Native 4K resolutions on Ultra settings. Games tested included Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy XVI, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and God of War: Ragnarök.

All the games tested showed significant performance improvement. Cyberpunk 2077 showed a 48% improvement, while Final Fantasy XVI got 40%. Things get even more interesting when moving over to Native 4K Ray Tracing performance, however. Using titles such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2, F1 2024, and Star Wars Outlaws, benchmark performance improvements went as high as 66% for F1 2024 and 48% for Star Wars Outlaws.

When calculated across the entire suite of 30 games tested, average performance uplift comes in at 42%, which is a fairly impressive figure. However, the RX 7900 GRE was not AMD’s top-of-the-line card last generation, so the RX 9070 XT falls just behind the 7900 XTX in raster, but enjoys better ray tracing implementation.
