AMD has been dominating CPU sales charts around the world for quite some time, particularly thanks to the massive popularity of its Ryzen X3D processors among gamers. And the latest Amazon U.S. Best Sellers rankings paint another difficult picture for Intel, as none of its current-generation processors have managed to enter the Top 15 at the time of writing.

Intel’s most recent Core Ultra generation only features once in the first 20 spots, with the Intel Core Ultra 270K Plus (a refresh model) sitting at #16 right now. The cheaper 250K Plus comes in at #30, while 14th-gen models still enjoy more success, and 12th-gen is still represented. Core Ultra was always going to be difficult to market after moving to a new socket, which means a new motherboard. For the upcoming Nova Lake CPUs, Intel is reportedly planning a “multi-generational” socket.

Top-selling CPUs on Amazon are massively in AMD’s favor

Instead, AMD currently occupies nine of the first 10 positions on Amazon’s CPU Best Sellers page. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D sits in first place, followed by the much cheaper Ryzen 5 5500 in second. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D takes third, while the Ryzen 5 9600X, Ryzen 7 5700X, and Ryzen 7 7800X3D occupy fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.

In the United States, Intel currently appears in seventh place with the Core i9-14900K, which is notably a (last-gen) 14th-generation processor rather than one of the company’s latest chips. AMD then takes the remaining three spots in the Top 10 with the Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 5 5600X, and Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

AMD’s X3D processors appearing so high on the list isn’t particularly surprising. These chips have regularly performed well in CPU sales charts, largely because their additional 3D V-Cache can provide significant performance benefits in games.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 7800X3D, and 9950X3D all appearing in Amazon’s Top 10 shows just how popular the lineup remains with gaming PC builders. AMD’s X3D processors also continue to hold a major advantage in gaming performance, while Intel still doesn’t offer a direct equivalent to the technology.

Of course it’s a popular source, but Amazon’s Best Sellers page still only represents one retailer and shouldn’t be treated as a complete picture of the global CPU market. Rankings can also change frequently depending on pricing, availability, and discounts. Still, seeing nine AMD processors in the Top 10 while Intel’s current generation fails to reach the same heights shows the challenge Intel continues to face in the consumer desktop market.
