Fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise are accustomed to the games (ever since GTA 3) launching on consoles first before eventually coming to PC. However, a new leak suggests the PC version of GTA 6 will be available much sooner than expected. According to GamesBeat, Rockstar is targeting the first quarter of 2027 for the PC launch. The report cites four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans, although all of them requested anonymity.
After more than a decade of waiting for a new mainline GTA game, console players are now only around a month away from getting their hands on it. However, things have been less clear for PC players. GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with Rockstar yet to officially announce when the PC version will arrive.
GTA 6 might be on PC just over a month after the console launch
Rockstar has already shared plenty of official information about the game, while several leaks have also given fans unofficial glimpses at what it could offer. Before this leak, PC players may have resigned themselves to waiting another year or longer, especially considering Rockstar’s history with previous GTA titles.

If everything goes according to plan, this means GTA 6 could arrive on PC sometime between January and March 2027, only a few months after its console debut. However, Rockstar hasn’t confirmed this window, and the report notes that the PC version will still need to meet the studio’s quality standards before it is released. It’s worth noting this isn’t the first time we’ve seen early 2027 predicted.
Such a quick turnaround would be a major change compared to GTA 5. That game originally arrived on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, while PC players had to wait until April 2015. GTA 6 potentially reaching PC only a few months after consoles would therefore be great news for players who were expecting another lengthy wait. Â At the same time, Xbox’s CSO denied rumors that players will be able to stream the game from Xbox to PC on November 19.
There are also plenty of reasons for Rockstar to bring GTA 6 to PC sooner. The game is expected to be one of the biggest releases in the company’s history, and launching on PC would immediately open it up to another massive group of potential buyers.
