AMD Financial Analyst Day took place yesterday, led by CEO Lisa Su to talk us through the company’s latest roadmap. Team Red outlined its CPU Core roadmap up to Zen 7, which will debut its “New Matrix Engine” for better AI functionality. And speaking of AI, this is an industry in which AMD expects tremendous growth. Aiming to triple profits by 2030, Lisa Su has highlighted the AI industry as a key growth driver in the data center market.

Rival tech giant Nvidia has benefited the most from the AI boom so far, and AMD is following in its footsteps to a certain degree. AMD has forecast a $1 trillion data center market by 2030, and an expected $100 billion in annual revenue for AMD within the next five years.

AMD’s long-term growth targets

In an AMD press release, published during Financial Analyst Day, the company laid out its long-term goals for growth. Unsurprisingly, the data center segment is the largest focus, expecting to deliver a “greater than 60% revenue compound annual growth rate (CAGR)” while the remaining segments are expected to produce “greater than 10% revenue”.

“We have now all of the pieces to deliver full AI factories, and that is really our goal throughout this entire stack, across CPUs, GPUs, software, networking, and our cluster-level systems design.”

Lisa Su calls the data center business “an exciting market,” and the “largest growth opportunity out there, and one that AMD is very, very well positioned for.” Reuters reports that AMD expects to “more than triple” its earnings.

Looking over to the Client and Gaming segment, it’s not like AMD plans to abandon its involvement in the PC gaming market. AMD already promised “a full roadmap of gaming optimized chips” earlier this year, and the projections from Financial Analyst Day reveal an expectation of “40% client revenue market share”. The company also promises to “strengthen its leadership” in the segment, primarily with AMD Ryzen processors, which continue to be top sellers among PC builders.
