AMD just had its annual earnings call, covering Q4 2025 and full-year financial results. The company’s Client and Gaming segment was up $3.9 billion during the final quarter, with revenue up 37% year-over-year. It also gave us a clue into what’s next. As for Xbox production, AMD claims a “next-gen Xbox featuring an AMD semi-custom SoC” should be ready to launch in 2027. This doesn’t strictly confirm any dates, not until Microsoft makes an announcement, but the support is there.

AMD has a long-standing partnership with Microsoft for Xbox hardware, though Team Red isn’t taking sides in the console war – it also maintains ties with Sony & PlayStation. And while there’s no reason to expect a new console launch in 2026, AMD did confirm Valve’s Steam Machine (a mini PC powered by AMD hardware) is still on track for an early 2026 release.

AMD is ready to support a next-gen Xbox launch in 2027

AMD made it clear in 2025 that it isn’t giving up on gamers, after revealing plans for a full gaming roadmap. We are slowly approaching the next generation of consoles, with AMD hardware at the heart of them. Whether Microsoft actually has plans to release a new Xbox in 2027 remains to be seen, and the ongoing situation with memory shortages and price hikes is bound to have an effect on production.

Thanks to this reveal from CEO Lisa Su, we at least know AMD is ready to support Microsoft with its semi-custom processor for the next-gen Xbox next year. The AMD boss also highlights the FSR 4 Redstone launch late last year, and with the PlayStation’s PSSR 2 upgrade rumored to be coming soon, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar development on the Xbox side of things in the future. Redstone is currently exclusive to the RX 9000 series desktop graphics cards.
