It has been a busy week for AMD, with the launch of the RX 9070 & RX 9070 XT graphics cards taking place just yesterday (March 6th). Speaking of yesterday, that’s when we saw some leaked information that revealed Team Red’s new Ryzen 9 X3D processors will be launching on March 12th, along with some pricing leaks.
Well, now we don’t have to rely on these anymore, as AMD has officially confirmed the March 12th release date, along with pricing for US consumers. The 9950X3D and 9900X3D were originally announced back at CES in January, but this is the first time AMD has officially addressed launch dates and pricing details.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are coming on March 12th
Following the early listings from large Chinese retailer JD yesterday, AMD’s Jack Huynh, who led the initial presentation at CES, has posted on X to reveal that both the 9950X3D and 9900X3D will be “available starting March 12th” with starting prices that are identical to the last-gen 7000 series equivalents, the 7950X3D and 7900X3D respectively.
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D – $699 (launch price, March 12th)
- AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D – $599 (launch price, March 12th)
- AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D – $699 (launch price, Feb 2023)
- AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D – $599 (launch price, Feb 2023)
A quick look on Amazon and Newegg shows us that the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000X3D series chips haven’t dropped much in price since they launched. In fact, they are actually inflated right now. At the time of writing, on Amazon, the 7950X3D is selling for $739, while we could find the 7900X3D on Newegg for $692. Based on this, the new series could undercut the current stock, though it makes more sense to expect these older chips to drop in price once March 12th rolls around.
These chips follow the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. We reviewed the gaming-focused chip, and it scored top marks thanks to its fantastic gaming performance above all. Expect much of the same from the new Ryzen 9 models but with even more power for creators.
