If you want to upgrade your CPU to match your shiny new GPU, it might be worth waiting a few days as AMD is finally getting ready to launch the latest batch of gaming-focussed ‘X3D' processors. These were officially revealed back at CES at the start of this year, but we finally have a potential release date to look forward to.
The Ryzen 9000 series was launched in August 2024, but many PC gaming enthusiasts held back on a purchase, hoping for news of an ‘X3D' variant of the new processors. We’ve already got the 9800X3D, but now, a large retailer in China has confirmed that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are due to be launched on March 12.
9950X3D and 9900X3D slated for March 12 launch
The X3D processors are considered the best choice for gaming, thanks to the extra V-Cache that takes some of the load off the GPU. With the recent launch of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 series of graphics cards, customers who have been waiting for a full upgrade can grab both to get the most cutting-edge experience that AMD currently offers.
The specs for the new Ryzen X3D chips are also listed on the Chinese store, JD, and are as follows.

reputable leaker HXL on Twitter/X used a plugin for the JD platform that revealed the price for the Chinese market. Using this plugin, the price for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D is listed at 4899 RMB ($675 USD), while the 9900X3D is listed for 4599 RMB ($634 USD).
The two new Ryzen 9 chips join the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is currently the only X3D processor for sale in the 9000 series. Back when we reviewed the 9800X3D, it earned top marks for its fantastic gaming and productivity performance – but these Ryzen 9 CPUs will certainly provide even more for the latter.
