Despite only being released in 2023, AMD has already given its highly reliable Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU an official $30 price drop. Though the reason for this sudden reduction is unknown, it doesn’t exactly come as a surprise since AMD is set to release its Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card soon. And with more already in the pipeline, like the AMD Radeon RX 8000, this move may have been an inevitable outcome for the underrated previous-generation GPU.
Now, if you’ve followed AMD GPU releases over the years, you probably already know that the 7700 XT was launched alongside the more powerful RX 7800 XT. Naturally, the latter was more powerful and, as a result, more expensive than the former, making the lesser-numbered GPU much of an afterthought. But even though the 7700 XT doesn’t quite make the cut in the best graphics cards of 2024, it still presents an ideal budget-friendly alternative for first-time PC builders looking to build their rig for cheap.
More GPU price cuts to follow?
With the RX 7900 GRE’s launch slated for February 27th and a slew of other GPUs already in the pipeline, this may not be the last price chop AMD makes to its graphics cards. In fact, these deductions may not only be limited to AMD. A few Nvidia GPUs, like the RTX 4060 and 4070, recently received discounts in China that could see worldwide pricing follow suit. Of course, with no official confirmation as of writing, this is still merely speculation, so you will need to take this information with the necessary amount of salt.
