AMD rumored to raise its Ryzen CPU prices as Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales come to a close
Table of Contents
It appears that Ryzen CPUs are getting more expensive following a week packed with holiday sales, at least according to a new rumor. PC builders have already had to battle with RAM price hikes, and the news that AMD GPUs are set to get a price increase in the new year. Black Friday sales were closely followed by Cyber Monday, and while there may still be some stragglers, the sales events have officially come to a close.
The rumor suggests that the price changes affect not only the current-gen Ryzen 9000 series but also older generations of processors. The 7000 series remains incredibly popular, while the Ryzen 5000 chips remain relevant for anyone sticking to AM4 right now. Considering the price of DDR5 RAM lately, making the switch to AM5 isn’t really viable for budget builders.
Ryzen CPU price hike rumored, but some sales are still on
“OC3D has confirmed, via industry sources, that AMD has informed its partners of a new price increase for its products. These price increases will take effect at midnight tonight”
Source: OC3D
This information comes from publication OC3D, which claims it has confirmed the news “via industry source”. The report, from December 1, claimed that the price increases will take place at midnight. Now that we’ve crossed over into the 2nd, we notice that many retailers still have late Cyber Monday sales on show. Newegg is still running its Cyber Monday sales, so we’ll have to wait and see if these price changes really take effect. As seen below, the 9950X3D and 9900X3D remain at their launch prices, albeit with a $30 discount promo code, which is tagged as a Cyber Monday deal.

Additionally, hardware retailer Overclockers UK, which OC3D is closely linked to, also has discounted prices for a wide range of Ryzen CPU SKUs, including the incredibly popular Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 7800X3D, at the time of writing.
