AMD Ryzen CPUs are at the top of the chart in updated price-to-performance leaderboard

Table of Contents
ComputerBase, a leading German tech publication, has compiled a fresh ranking of CPUs priced above 200 euros in its price-to-performance leaderboard, and it’s clear that AMD's Ryzen processors are at the top thanks to their exceptional performance per euro.
AMD's direct competition, on the other hand, struggled with the launch of its Arrow Lake series, with new processors drawing heavy criticism for feeling unfinished, often delivering performance that is on par with or even below their predecessors, while also being significantly more expensive. Before we get to the top scorers, it's worth noting that since ComputerBase.de is a German publication, these rankings likely reflect the German market and not the overall global situation.
AMD Ryzen 5 9600X leads the pack
At the top of the leaderboard stands the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 9600X, scoring an impressive 84 in the Price FPS rating. When we first reviewed the 9600X, there weren’t many standout features to make it a must-buy. However, a later BIOS update that allowed users to raise the CPU's TDP to 105W delivered a 13% boost in performance, making it a much more appealing option.
Right behind the 9600X are, once again, AMD's Ryzen 5 7600 and Ryzen 5 7600X, taking the second and third spots with scores of 83 and 82, respectively. When we tested both CPUs, the Ryzen 5 7600 proved to be more power-efficient than the 7600X while still performing closely to its bigger brother. And the 7600X, in particular, has been a frequent recommendation in many of our best CPU guides thanks to its solid all-around performance.
Intel Core Ultra 200S CPUs trail behind
That said, Intel did manage to claim two spots in the top five with the Core Ultra 5 225F and Core Ultra 5 235, both entry-level chips in the Core Ultra 200S lineup. These CPUs scored a respectable 76 and 72, offering decent value for those looking to get into Intel's new architecture without breaking the bank. While they didn't match AMD's dominance, they still hold their ground as competitive budget options.
So it is safe to say that for anyone planning a CPU upgrade in 2025, AMD’s offerings are a clear winner, and especially for gaming performance, AMD is the go-to for many now. One thing worth noting is that these rankings can vary region to region, and since ComputerBase.de is a German publication, they most likely reflect the German market situation rather than the global landscape.
