When deciding on what new graphics card to buy, performance is an important consideration since you want your favorite games to look and perform at their best. It is just as important to consider budget as an affordable card that can get the job done and will suit most users.

Hitting the price versus affordability sweet spot is what AMD has tried to do with the Radeon RX 9070 XT, and according to some charts now available online, it might have succeeded.

RX 9070 XT wins in price to performance

A graph posted on Twitter/X from Korean tech outlet Quasar Zone shows a list of popular recent graphics cards, with the price calculated versus performance at 1440p. The graph shows the RX 9070 XT in fourth place, right behind its chief rival, the RTX 5070 Ti. Only the RX 7900 XTX and RTX 4080 are ranked higher.

According to this chart, RTX 5070 Ti owners would be paying $150 more for a 2% improvement in performance. The RTX 5070 is far further down the chart, with its performance completely unable to justify the $549 price tag.

This is not the complete story, however. Though the RTX 5070 Ti has an MSRP of $749, it is nearly impossible to find a retailer selling one at that price. Research by Techpowerup regarding prices currently on Newegg indicates that it is currently difficult to find an RTX 5070 Ti for less than $1,000. This further drives home that the RX 9070 XT is better value for money, provided it can stay closer to MSRP.

With indications that AMD has properly prepared retailers with adequate stock levels, many analysts remain confident that the supply can meet demand. Nvidia, meanwhile, is having to issue special permits to allow a selected few to get hold of a GPU at the MSRP.

It could all still go wrong on the supply side, but for now, the price vs performance calculation is favouring Team Red.
