ASUS is selling this non-Ti RTX 5070 for close to what the Ti should cost

The RTX 5070 launched yesterday, and many PC enthusiasts are excited about it. The demand for this GPU is extremely high, and stock was limited, meaning it sold out within minutes – just like we saw with the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 Ti. The card has an MSRP of $549, as per Nvidia, but it seems like ASUS has a variant that prices the non-Ti card close to the higher-end Ti model.
- GPU: GB205-300
- CUDA Cores: 6,144
- VRAM: 12GB GDDR7
- Memory Bus Width: 192-bit
- Base Clock Speed: 2.33GHz
- Boost Clock Speed: 2.51GHz
TUF Gaming RTX 5070 costs almost the same as the 5070 Ti
Different versions of the RTX 5070 will be available at launch from various board partners, including ASUS. In the US, ASUS is launching three models today (as per the official thread on Reddit). However, one of them is priced only $10 less than the MSRP of the RTX 5070 Ti, which is the better version of this card. This will make people question whether it is worth buying the 5070 or just going for the Ti version instead.
The specific model that costs almost as much as the 5070 Ti is the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 OC Edition, which is priced at $739.99. This is only $10 cheaper than the RTX 5070 Ti’s MSRP of $749.99. Meanwhile, ASUS is also selling the Prime RTX 5070 OC for $699.99 and the non-OC edition for $549.99, which is the original MSRP of the 5070.
We’ve actually just reviewed the ASUS TUF RTX 5070, and it failed to score top marks, partly because the value for money has been overshadowed by AMD, especially since the 5070 ships with just 12GB of VRAM compared to the competition’s 16GB.
The TUF Gaming variant comes with a 3.125-slot design and has a large heatsink with a fin array to improve cooling. It also features three Axial-tech fans for better airflow. On the other hand, the Prime RTX 5070 OC and the non-OC model have a 2.5-slot design, making them a bit smaller. Right now, we are still waiting to see if the TUF Gaming version offers anything else that justifies its higher price. However, we expect it to have better cooling and higher clock speeds than the other models.
In any case, make sure to check out our Where to buy RTX 5070 page, where we’ve listed all retailers who will be offering this GPU. Now that the GPU has sold out, it can take weeks or even months for the next batch to arrive due to stock issues. On top of that, scalpers will start listing the cards at much higher prices on platforms like eBay.
