AMD has been at the top of its game with its latest Ryzen processors. It has been clearly ahead of Intel’s CPU sales in the DIY market, and Team Red’s X3D chips have solidified themselves as the best of the best for PC gamers. And now, one of the company’s best CPUs for gaming is getting a special offer at Newegg. Not only is the CPU on sale, but you’ll also get a 1TB SSD worth $62 thrown in for free.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is currently available directly from Newegg for $472.02, down from its full $489 price tag. While that’s not a massive deal on its own, it comes with the Patriot P400 Lite 1TB SSD for no additional cost. Newegg lists this deal as a “limited offer,” so it’s well worth taking advantage of if you’re in the market for a new CPU.

We reviewed the Ryzen 7 9800X3D back when it launched late last year and gave it top marks. It blows the competition out of the water when it comes to gaming and was the top of the pack, at least until AMD later launched its Ryzen 9 X3D chips for this generation. Even still, those can be considered overkill for anyone focused on gaming, so it’s still a top pick. If you’re looking for extra productivity or content creation power on top, you might want to turn your attention to the flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

With 8 cores and 16 threads, it’s an ideal processor for gaming with some productivity on the side. Generally, 6-core options are popular for gaming while delivering great value, but the extra 2 cores are handy. Especially following the news that the upcoming Borderlands 4 asks for an 8-core CPU as a minimum. Thanks to the 3D stacked V-Cache design unique to X3D chips, it’s packed with 96MB of level 3 cache to help aid gaming performance, particularly in CPU-intensive games, all the while combating stuttering and 1% low FPS spikes.

Some free extra storage with your X3D CPU is much appreciated. The P400 Lite bundled in this package offers 1TB of storage space with fast 3,500MB/s and 2,700MB/s read and write speeds, respectively. The M.2 NVMe Gen4 drive is an ideal addition to any gaming PC build and comes with a generous 5-year warranty. While Patriot is not a name you’d usually associate with the best SSDs for gaming on the market, it offers solid specs and is an excellent free bonus to this two-part bundle.
