AYN announced its new Odin 3 Portal handheld last week, arriving soon as an upgrade to the existing Odin 3, expected to feature a larger screen thanks to a 7-inch OLED panel. The new Portal model brings the device closer to established gaming PC handhelds such as the Steam Deck and the ASUS ROG Ally series, albeit still operating as a more lightweight Android device.

Today, AYN has provided an update to reveal some specifications, including the “flagship performance” tier processor, an 8-core Qualcomm Dragonwing Q8 (a modified version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite). AYN has also revealed “Full Size Hall Effect” joysticks, alongside a sizeable 9,000mAh battery. The Odin 3 Portal weighs in at 450g, making it around 60g heavier than the Odin 3, but still considerably lighter than other handhelds of its size.

Although AYN still hasn’t confirmed display specs with this short trailer, the Odin 3 Portal is expected to follow in the footsteps of the last-gen equivalent, with a 7-inch OLED screen, 1080p resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. Since the same as the regular Odin 3, one of the most notable upgrades is the battery size, which is “Built for longer play,” in AYN’s words.

Pricing and availability details are yet to be announced, but it’s fair to say AYN is in a tricky spot right now – comparable to the original Odin 3’s launch. The company has upped the price of the Odin 3 three times since launch in response to memory and storage shortages, climbing from its $299 early bird price up to $369 for the cheapest 8GB + 128GB configuration today.
