Baldur’s Gate 3 modders want your help creating a community-made NPC for the biggest custom campaign

Following the launch of patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3, the game was essentially handed over to the modders, now that Larian Studios is moving on to its next big project(s). One of the biggest upcoming mods (with 180 staff members) is named Path To Menzoberranzan, an ambitious custom campaign currently in development. And now, the developers are giving the community a chance to create an NPC within the game through a series of polls.
Larian CEO Swen Vincke is confident that BG3 will “continue to do well” thanks to mods adding new content to the game; the dev studio will still be around to provide any essential support or quash any major bugs if they surface. The Path To Menzoberranzan creators have already been running auditions for voice acting talent to join the project, so this new NPC popular vote is yet another way to get the community involved.
Path To Menzoberranzan devs announce community-made NPC
First off, if you want to get involved, check out the Path To Menzoberranzan Discover server here. In a recent post, Community Manager Jenniely announced that popular vote “will bring a character to life” in the upcoming custom campaign. Through a series of polls, every three days, the community can vote on an aspect of the NPC.
The results of the first poll are already in, sort of. With 50 votes (21%) each, Drow and Dragonborn tied the vote for the race of the community-made character. Since it was a draw, another vote is underway (at the time of writing) to determine which one will come out on top.
We don’t know how many of these polls will be required to fully shape the NPC, but there are plenty of defining features to get through. If you enjoy D&D character creation and want to have your say, make sure to stay active in the mod’s Discord server.
