Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘The Grand Theater’ custom campaign creator shares progress for v1.1 with a planned release window

Ever since Baldur’s Gate got its massive Patch 7 update with official mod support, modders have been hard at work making the most ambitious BG3 mods to date. Some of the most ambitious creations are starting to come to fruition, two recent examples being Path to Menzoberranzan and the mod we want to talk about today, The Grand Theater.
We covered the initial 1.0 release of The Grand Theater, highlighting that it took “600 modding hours” of work to put it all together. First things first, the mod is still in version 1.0 – but a huge new update is just around the corner.
The Grand Theater mod developer shares an update video
The creator of this mod, Moezilla, has recently shared an update video to talk all about what is coming in the latest version. Based on the Nexus Mods page, we can look forward to a few things in version 1.1.
- Waypoint travel
- More Cutscenes
- Full Outside surrounding
- Gamble Room
- Combat enabled, Several Combat Situations
- More unique Items
As you can see, whole new areas are going to be added to the mod along with new boss fights, custom items, and the return of a familiar face from Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 – Edwin Odesseiron, a lawful evil human Conjurer. He never made it into BG3, so this mod marks his return. There’s also a returning character in the form of Kangaxx for a boss fight. As for the custom items, there are three coming to the mod:
- Ring of Gaxx
- Edwin’s Staff
- A brand-new Harp
This upcoming version 1.1 update is just another step in this mod’s development – there’s much more to come. Next in the pipeline seems to be unlocking the theater hall, as well as ‘The Tower of Human Experiments,’ which sounds gruesome enough to us. The development of The Grand Theater has sped up massively since it was first published, as Moezilla has gotten some extra help, with a 3D modeler and item creator joining the team.
As for the release window, version 1.1 is expected to arrive towards the end of April (this is the goal, at least). Moezilla closes the video by saying they plan to talk more about the project in an upcoming video “within like 3 or 4 weeks,” so stay tuned.
