New Baldur’s Gate 3 custom campaign ‘The Grand Theater’ just released after “600 modding hours” of work

The modding scene for Baldur’s Gate 3 feels like it is entering a new era. Ever since the release of patch 7, which brought along official mod support, we’ve been seeing more mods with an ambitious level of detail. We’ve recently been in contact with the developers behind the Path to Menzoberranzan custom campaign (which will soon be running auditions for voice roles) and the future of modding for BG3 looks promising – especially with upcoming patch 8 set to be the last ‘major’ update.
With all that in mind, let’s turn our attention to another mod currently in development. This project is the hard work of modder ‘Moezillaaa‘ who claims “600 modding hours” have been put into creating their new custom campaign, The Grand Theater.

The Grand Theater is a custom campaign that just launched into version 1.0
In what can almost be described as a full expansion, The Grand Theater is a custom campaign that adds a ton of new content to sink your teeth into. Set on the outskirts of Baldur’s Gate, you enter a new structure named The Great Theater which is buzzing with activity, owned and operated by the Red Wizards of Thay – a manipulative bunch of schemers.
“In the halls of the Grand Theater, you'll find that the show must go on – but the question remains: who will be the star of the final act, and what will they lose to secure their place under the spotlight?
This is a world where the Red Wizards hold the strings, and you'll have to decide whether the cost of fame is worth the price of your soul.
Will you play your part, or will the Devil demand his due?“
The Grand Theater on Nexus Mods
Here’s what you can expect to see in version 1.0 so far – and there’s plenty more planned on the roadmap.
- Intro to large Custom Campaign
- +2000 new lines of dialog
- 6 New quests kicked off (Only 1 can be finished in v1.0)
- Gygax Music Video
- 1 Very Rare Reward Item
- 1 Large new area w/ Outside Arrival + Entry Hall (More Rooms will follow in subsequent versions)
- New NPCs (8 new Red Wizards of Thay Models)
So far, there is no combat available, but it will be coming in version 1.1. Instead, The Grand Theater offers around an hour of story-driven gameplay and essentially plays like the first act of the custom campaign. Moezilla recommends that you finish the Baldur’s Gate 3 base game before you play this mod, as some NPCs will be visible if you haven’t done so.
If you want to support the development of The Great Theater, you can do so via Ko-Fi. Alternatively, Moezilla is keen for help from 3D modelers, coders, and animators and suggests contacting them on Discord. Moving forward, expect to see update videos posted on their YouTube channel here.
