Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 8 adds single-button option that makes setting up all your mods easier than ever

We’re slowly but surely getting close to patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3. The previous major patch, as you may have guessed, was patch 7, and it brought official modding tools. This has allowed the BG3 modding community to flourish more than ever before, and we’ve seen a bunch of ambitious mods and/or custom campaigns deep into development as a result.
Now, with patch 8 stress tests taking place (the most recent being stress test update 2), BG3 players with early access to the preview are enjoying all it has to offer. The most notable additions are the new photo mode and 12 new subclasses. However, there’s something that may have flown under your radar – the ability to toggle all mods at once.

You can toggle all your mods on/off with a single button press in patch 8
If you’re the kind of person who enjoys playing with a lot of mods, then this option is a godsend if you want to return to vanilla without manually changing each and every mod you have downloaded. Baldur’s Gate 3 content creator Jay Dunna recently talked about this after gaining access to the patch 8 preview, calling it “a massive change” that no doubt saves plenty of time fumbling around in menus.
“I have 300+ and once my mod settings file got deleted and turning all of them back on took forever,” says Dunna. Thankfully, this simple change resolves that issue. We can see this sentiment is shared across Baldur’s Gate 3 mod enjoyers, too, in the comments of his recent YouTube video.
Another user adds that they hope Larian “increase the console mod limit,” and we can only agree, assuming there are no technical or moderation barriers in the way. Patch 8 is slated to be the last major update to Baldur’s Gate 3, which is important to note as it means there likely won’t be any further mod-breaking updates coming to the game; Larian’s major patches have a reputation of breaking mod compatibility.
If you want to read more about upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3, we recommend two custom campaigns on the way: Path to Menzoberranzan and The Grand Theater. These are the type of ambitious mods we love to see coming as a result of the official modding tools, and they only continue to extend the lifespan of the game while Larian moves onto its next project.
