Black Friday GPU deals are rolling in it looks like it’s a great time for anyone looking for something that can more than handle 1440p gaming. I’ve spotted three GPUs currently on sale that standout in this regard, all from ASUS – which is another win as it produces some quality gaming products,
We gave an RX 7800 XT graphics card 4.5 stars, crowning it the ‘ultimate 1440p upgrade’, and you can find an ASUS version in this list below, amongst others. All of these cards, however, bring something slightly different to the table, whether that be value for money or simply sheer performance. Here’s a closer look at my top three GPUs for 1440p gaming from the Black Friday sales.
1440p GPU deals – my top 3 this Black Friday
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition
ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB OC Edition
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7700 XT O12G GDDR6X
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition – Was $509.99, Now $469.99 at Amazon
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition
The ASUS Dual RTX 7800 XT OC Edition, which you can get for $40 less than its usual price. Unlike many other 7800 XT variants out there, this one comes with a dual-fan design, so it is significantly shorter than most variants. This is a good point for anyone who is using a MicroATX or a generally compact build. Of course, this impacts the cooling, but as long as you don’t go overclocking it on your own, I think you’ll be fine.

In our RX 7800 XT review, the card earned a solid 4.5/5 rating for its excellent 1440p gaming. We also mentioned that it may not be the right choice for those who are more into productivity, but as long as your gaming is your main use case, the RX 7800 XT will keep you happy.
The card features a 16GB GDDR6 VRAM with a memory bandwidth of 624.1 GB/sec, and in our tests, this translates to okayish performance at 4K (like 40 FPS on Cyberpunk 2077). However, 1440p is where it truly shines. For example, we were getting over 90 FPS on CP 2077 and more than 240 FPS on CS2 (so you can play competitively @ 1440p as well). Plus, we tested Cyperpunk 2077 on pure rasterization settings without using AMD’s FSR or frame-gen to get a boost. If you turn that on, you’ll get even more framerates.
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7700 XT O12G GDDR6X – Was $439.99, Now $399.99 at Amazon
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7700 XT O12G GDDR6X
The second of the lot is another AMD card. In fact, it is like a little brother of the RX 7800 XT I just discussed above, like it has 12GB VRAM instead of 16GB. This means you shouldn’t expect good 4K performance out of it, but it is still more than enough for 1440p gameplay. Right now, this card is also $40 off, which brings its price to just $400. This may not look much, but given that AMD’s RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT already offered good value, the discount is actually quite decent.
When we reviewed a Sapphire RX 7700 XT, and noted its excellent value for 1440p gaming. That’s because the card gave us a solid 60 FPS experience in pretty much all AAA titles at 1440p maxed-out settings. In many cases, it actually performed even better—Cyberpunk 2077, for instance, ran at almost 80 FPS on average, with 1% lows floating in the 65 FPS ballpark.
Being an AMD card, you shouldn’t expect great ray tracing performance out of it, as that’s a department NVIDIA still shines, but if playing 1440p games at all the maximum settings is your goal, the RX 7700 XT is tough to beat for the price.
ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB OC Edition – Was $529.99, Now $449.99 at Amazon
ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB OC Edition
The last GPU I would recommend for 1440p gaming this Black Friday is the ASUS ProArt RTX 4060 Ti. It actually has the biggest discount of the bunch, a solid $80 price cut that has brought its price down to $449.99, which is also the lowest it has ever been, according to Camelcamelcamel.
For context, we reviewed an 8GB variant of the RTX 4060 Ti and we were impressed with its performance at 1440p, with it achieving 98fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider – not bad at all. While we haven’t tested a 16GB variant yet, I think it’s safe to say it’ll deliver the good also.
Along with that, the card also supports the latest DLSS 3 and ray tracing, so if you are into the RT hype and want to see those reflections in the most beautiful way possible, the RTX 4060 Ti is up for the task. Of course, you have to settle your expectations, as it is not a high-end card, but it can still get the job done.
