After being struck by a series of delays following its announcement back in 2020, Pragmata finally launched a few days ago on April 17. It’s clear that players have been loving it so far, with the Capcom title reaching a major milestone in just two days. It’s a completely new IP, and Capcom says it was developed “primarily by a team of younger devs”.
In an official update, Capcom confirmed that Pragmata has sold over one million copies in just two days. The game also had a strong debut on Steam, hitting a peak player count of over 56,000 on its first day. This number has continued to rise, with the game reaching more than 68,000 players yesterday. It’s up there with some of the week’s top sellers on Steam.
Pragmata is doing well on PC
As far as reviews go, it currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, with over 4,200 user reviews, 97% of which are positive, one of the highest ratings ever for a Capcom title. It’s also worth noting that the game is Steam Deck Verified, so even handheld players can pick up and enjoy Pragmata on the go without worrying about poor performance.

This kind of reception is impressive, especially since many modern releases struggle with bugs, glitches, and performance issues at launch. In the case of Pragmata, however, players seem satisfied with what Capcom has delivered, with some even saying it feels different from what they have been getting in the past few years.
What is Pragmata about?
Gameplay-wise, players control two characters at once: Hugh and Diana. Hugh is a member of a failed investigation team and handles movement and combat, while Diana is a young android who can hack systems. The story centers around a lunar research facility taken over by rogue AI, with both characters working together to find a way back to Earth.
That said, 2026 has been a strong year for Capcom so far. In February, the company released Resident Evil Requiem, which was well received by players and sold over five million copies in just five days. Pragmata is also off to a good start, and it will be interesting to see how many copies it manages to sell within its first month. The game is also a part of Nvidia’s latest promotion, thanks to which you can get a free copy of Pragmata with qualifying GPUs.
