Copilot+ PCs were released earlier this year and have been making (some) waves in the tech industry. In addition, Microsoft asked for Nvidia’s help to further bolster their device’s gaming and AI performance across the board. It seems like Microsoft was really gunning for their Copilot+ PCs to become a mainstay right out of the gate.
Recently, a post on Reddit showcased one of the latest Copilot+ PCs and its co-creator functionality, which, in simpler terms, is Midjourney built into Microsoft Paint. So, if you were wondering ‘Is Midjourney worth it?‘ and if you should start a subscription, maybe this kind of demonstration will win you over.
Cocreator in MS Paint gives your doodle an AI makeover
The video showcases a person giving a prompt just like you would on any of the AI art generators and proceeded to draw the basics of the prompt roughly. For example, for the sky, a whole lot of blue was used to simulate the “Australian outback.” Brown was initially used, which was later covered by orange completely, but it didn’t matter for the co-creator, and it understood the assignment, and drew exactly what the person wanted.
Another neat aspect of this functionality was also highlighted: the “Creativity” slider. You can slide it to the left, which decreases its level, and your painting will more or less turn out like what you drew. However, if you slide it to the right, its creativity level will increase and reach “realism.” In other words, it’s a slider that affects how much influence Midjourney (the AI) has on your doodle.
This is an excellent addition for creators and casual users alike. This feature could help incorporate custom graphics and scenes into PowerPoint and help deliver your point, but these are just some of the use cases. We’ll have to get our hands on one of these PCs and thoroughly test their features ourselves.
