Mirage is one of the older competitive maps in Counter-Strike history (remember de_cpl_strike?), and with the launch of Counter-Strike 2, we didn't get to see much of an overhaul apart from an updated color palette. However, a Counter-Strike map creator has decided to give fans of the FPS game a brand new way to experience Mirage with a project called “Mirage Bricks,” and just from the name, it's pretty easy to guess what it's about.

On X, creator Lillykyu shared a creative reimagining of the classic Mirage map in CS2 by transforming it into a fully destructible environment. Unlike the original map, where only a few elements can be broken or interacted with, Mirage Bricks lets players destroy walls, large structures, windows, and just about everything that gets in their way – and it’s now available on the Steam Workshop.

Don’t worry about FPS drops

One thing to note here is that Mirage Bricks is not destructible in the hyper-realistic, physics-driven way seen in Battlefield or The Finals. Instead, the map is made entirely of “Lego bricks,” offering a more playful take on destruction. And in games with destructible environments, FPS drops are usually a main concern. However, the creator has made sure to optimize Mirage Bricks as much as possible. In fact, according to them, they “get more FPS on this map than on official competitive maps.”

The creator also mentions that each brick has been individually named, allowing it to be parented to the brick below it. This setup ensures that pieces only detach when shot, and only the brick being hit simulates physics at that moment. On top of that, all the physics is handled server-side, so if you're playing this map on a server, your PC doesn't have to do much work.

That said, Mirage Bricks is available for download on the Steam Community Workshop, and you can easily add it to your game by clicking the Subscribe button. You can also check out Lillykyu on X, as this isn’t the first time the creator has reimagined Counter-Strike maps, with previous creations including an MS Paint map, a Fruit Ninja map, and a Jetpack Joychicken map.
