Diablo 4 was released in June 2023, and since then, Blizzard has continuously added new content through seasonal updates. The latest one, Season 5 (AKA Season of the Infernal Hordes), has once again brought players back to Sanctuary for more challenges and battles. And it seems that Steam Deck users are particularly enjoying the new season, as the game is currently among the top 5 most played on the handheld.
Considering the game is still at full price (albeit down from its original $69.99), it’s somewhat of a surprise to see it making strides among Steam Deck players. It is a testament to how well it performs on the Deck, as well as Blizzard’s focus on improved controller support compared to previous entries.
Diablo IV is the fifth most played game on the Steam Deck right now
Diablo 4 is a Verified game, meaning it runs smoothly on the Steam Deck without any issues. You don’t have to worry about tweaking or adjusting the settings to improve its performance, as it runs fine out of the box.
In the past month, Diablo 4 ranked as the 18th most-played game on the Steam Deck. However, with the release of Season 5 on August 6th, the game’s popularity has increased. It currently holds the 5th spot on the Steam Deck Top Played charts, right above Grand Theft Auto V and behind indie hit Balatro.
Season 5 of Diablo 4 introduced new challenges, rewards, and gameplay mechanics that have brought players back to the world of Sanctuary. The latest season pass, which is filled with rewards, has given players a new reason to dive deep into the game and explore all it has to offer. Diablo 4 is also one of those titles that can be played over and over again. With countless character builds, multiple dungeons, and a constant stream of new loot to chase, players can easily spend hundreds of hours exploring the in-game world.
The new season has significantly increased the game’s player count. According to SteamDB, the average daily player count of Diablo 4 was between 8,000 to 5,000 before August 6. However, after the new season, it has jumped to around 30,000.
