Borderlands 4 is only a few days away, launching on September 12, and fans are counting down the hours until they can jump in. The game looks great, and early impressions suggest the developers at Gearbox have done an impressive job. But there’s also no denying that Borderlands 4 is demanding on hardware. Even on a powerful RTX 4080, early tests have reported frame rates dipping as low as 30 FPS without Frame Generation. That’s not exactly what you expect from such a strong GPU.

Luckily, Nvidia has stepped in with some good news for its GPU owners. Thanks to DLSS 4‘s Multi Frame Generation, Borderlands 4 will run much smoother. Nvidia says that players with RTX 50-series GPUs will see frame rates boosted by up to 5.5 times compared to native rendering. That’s great news, especially for those aiming for 4K gameplay.

Nvidia shared more details in its official blog. At 4K with max settings, turning on DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation and DLSS Super Resolution can increase performance by an average of 5.5x.

At 1440p, performance jumps by around 4.3x, with the RTX 5090 pushing nearly 300 FPS and other RTX 50 GPUs hitting well above 200 FPS. And at 1080p, DLSS 4 ensures every RTX 50-series card can deliver over 160 FPS with settings maxed out. That’s more than enough for players who want speed as well as smooth visuals.

RTX 40-series owners won’t be left behind either. They can still benefit from DLSS Frame Generation and DLSS Super Resolution, though the gains won’t be as dramatic as the new 50 Series which has Multi Frame Gen (MFG). And all RTX users can also enable Nvidia Reflex, which cuts system latency by up to 54%.

In other news, Nvidia is running a Borderlands 4 RTX 50-series Bundle until September 22. If you buy a qualifying RTX 50 GPU, you’ll get a copy of the game and the Gilded Glory Pack as a bonus.
