Google takes jabs at Apple for copying some of its Pixel features in new video
Table of Contents
In another one of its fun little promo clips for the Pixel smartphones, Google points out all the features that Apple seems to be copying from its Pixel phones. Following this year’s WWDC, Apple showcased iOS 26, with its change in naming schemes, but also a fairly sizeable redesign, along with bringing some well-known features from Android.
Replicating a podcast setup, the video titled Responding to More Rumors has a Pixel 9 Pro chatting (in text-to-speech form) to an iPhone in a case hiding its logo but clearly stated in the subtitles and context, the Apple phone expands on the fact this has happened before and not the first time it’s been following what Google does.
The most recent additions include live translation for text messages, a hold assist, and call screening. Something Pixels and Androids have been doing for years now. It (the iPhone) then asks what is coming with the next Pixel 10, “just out of curiosity”. This is just a bit of fun and a nice marketing technique, considering all the major phone brands will be doing similar things to each other to try to entice more customers. However, it’s a quick and enjoyable video to watch.
The features in question and more innovations
The promo highlights three main features that iOS 26 is introducing to Apple phones. Firstly, the live translation for messages enables easier communication in different languages, which Google also had 4 years ago in 2021. Another is hold assist, which makes being on hold in a call a lot less painful. Pixels introduced it 5 years ago in 2020.
The last of which is call screening, a handy tool for ensuring you get actual calls and avoid scams without having to pick up the phone, which was added 7 years ago in 2018. No matter which phones you choose, all the features are handy tools to have at your disposal.
